NOW Foods pleasant tasting nutritional yeast flakes are produced from a specially selected strain of Saccharomyces Cerevisiae. This yeast is grown on enriched purified cane and beet molasses under carefully controlled conditions.
This is a primary grown yeast and is therefore not a brewery by-product as is brewer's yeast. Nutritional yeast is a great source of protein, B vitamins and trace minerals. It contains the powerful antioxidants and two main carbohydrates - alpha-mannan and beta-glucan.
Nutritional yeast is a very versatile food that works with nearly any type of diet or eating style. It is naturally low in sodium and calories, as well as fat-free, sugar-free, gluten-free and vegan.
Directions
Take 2 level tablespoons daily mixed in milk, fruit juice or vegetable juice. It can also be used in vegetarian recipes or added to protein shakes to boost nutritional content.
