In the algae oil capsules the ratio between the essential (vital) fatty acids EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) is 1 (EPA) to 2 (DHA). The great thing about these fatty acid capsules is that they can be absorbed particularly well by the body thanks to their triglyceride (TG) form!
The plant-based alternative to fish oil is in most cases alpha-linolenic acid (ALA). ALA is a precursor to the long chain omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids DHA and EPA. The most common sources of ALA are flaxseeds, vegetable oils and nuts.
The human body is capable of producing DHA and EPA from ALA, but not without losses! Conversion is very slow, and the conversion rate is very low, 2 to 5%! For comparison: a single capsule of Health + Algae Oil provides 225 mg of EPA / DHA!
Directions
Take 1-2 capsules daily with a meal.
