Niacinamide (Vitamin B-3) is a form of Niacin, a water soluble B-vitamin. Despite the similarities in names, Niacinamide isn’t the same thing as Niacin. They’re two different types of Vitamin B-3. It is a derivative of niacin that does not cause the "flush" normally associated with taking high doses of Niacin.
Niacinamide is readily converted into the bioactive forms of Niacin, which are vital cofactors in cellular energy production and are critical for the maintenance of DNA stability. A Vitamin B-3 deficiency can lead to disorders of the skin, kidneys, and brain. Taking Niacinamide can help prevent B-3 deficiency.
